MITOS, a contemporary fashion brand, combines embroidery traditions with modern designs to create high-end swimwear.
The inspiration for the Mitos Summer 2014 swimwear designs was found in the colorful and textured Moroccan mosaics, also known as zellige tiles.
Mesmerized by the intricate geometric motifs on the glazed terracotta tilework, our goal was to reinterpret traditional motifs into fashion-forward patterns. The Moroccan mosaic swimwear collection underlines the luxurious and sophisticated brand image.
Exploring the summer 2014 collection, one can notice the different patterns for the top and bottom of each bikini which are intended to work in sync and resemble the unique in harmony and craftsmanship zellige tiles.
Stage one was to create the swimwear patterns on screen and adjust them to the curves and folds of the fine Italian lycra fabric.
Stage two required the conversion of those vector motifs into cross-stich embroidery patterns.
A typically two-dimensional design turned into a three-dimensional pattern for the chosen fabric.
The colors were carefully selected to honor the Moroccan finesse.
